    email and corporate calendar always running

    I noticed that the stock email and corporate calendar applications are always running in the background on my Moto Droid, even though I have not configured them. Is there a way to prevent this, and free up some valuable memory?

    That is the way Android works, if the memory is need the OS kills the app. Android is different that BB and WinMo OS's...

    To actually remove the apps you need to be rooted.
