    restarting over and over again

just today, (of course Thanksgiving) my droid just continues to restart over and over again. the only way to shut it down is to remove the battery or let the battery run down.

Does it do this every time after you restart it, or does it only do it after a certain amount of time?
    Resistance is futile.

Wow mine was acting really bizzare today too! It turned out to be an app gone wrong. Maybe it's a bad app?

Try booting it into safe mode, by holding the menu button on the keyboard until "safe mode" comes up on the bottom left corner when it boots up.

You beat me to it If you installed any new apps recently or updated any, i would do this and try to remove those that you did.

Sounds like a hardware failure to me. I'd try and exchange it for a new one and pray they can get all your info off the old one.

I have had the same problem. Monday Nov. 30 was an especially bad day. I had to remove the battery due to freezes several times. I have to do this 3 times a day on average. I have only installed apps from the Android Market, and it seems to happen regardless of which app I use. It has happened while using the Music app that comes automatically installed, an app called Enjoy Daily Sudoku, and Grid Droid game. I'm not entirely convinced that an app is to blame, and don't really want to systematically uninstall and reinstall my 70 different apps.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Unfortunately an app is probably the culprit.

    Exclamation

Absolutely return the phone and get a new one! This is not normal behavior. I bought my Droid on day 1. On Sunday, after using it for a day and a half, I noticed rebooting and turning off. I had not installed anything. Took it back and requested a new one. Of course it worked fine in store, but I can't take a chance with phone not working. Sales rep tried to talk me out of it, but I insisted, and said Verizon has a 30 day return policy.
She opened the battery cover, removed the battery, and tried to give me some cr*p about the battery being overcharged!!! Uhmmm, EXCUSE ME! NOT POSSIBLE! I SHOWED HER MOTOROLA'S BOOK, SHOWING THIS. If these batteries could overcharge, we could not use the docks, now, could we???

She gave me a new one, and I have not had a problem since. I moderate at a forum for smartphones, and I have learned that there were a bunch of problems with the first batch of Droids. EXCHANGE IT, EXCHANGE IT, EXCHANGE IT!

My first droid went into the endless reboot loop within the first week and nothing fixed it. I got a new one and put all the same apps and settings right back on it and have had no problems since. I suppose it could have been an app causing it and re downloading them solved the issue. At any rate the new one has been running fine so I say replace it. But if anybody finds a different solution I would love to hear it.
