Gmail problems

Im sure there is a post somewhere with these issues, but for me to get incoming Gmail email, I have to physically hit the refresh bottom to get it. Any help Plz?

Do you have your gmail account setup to auto sync in the background?
Settings>accounts & sync.

I had the same problem. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, then hit menu button on the button, then hit filter, select all, scroll to gmail, clear the cache and clear data. Reboot phone and everything will resynch.
