About LinkBacksI have been reading around for about an hour now. I want to update to the new firmware. I am getting the idea that you can download the 2.1 update off of megaupload.com or some other file hosting site. I want the update asap. Can somebody point me in the direction of a tutorial/thread/instructions.

04-03-2010 02:34 PMMake sure you are on stock 2.0.1 then:
To get rooted 2.1: [Release] 2.0.1 stock to 2.1 with root!
To get regular 2.1 (can't root later, yet, if you go this way):
1) Download http://android.clients.google.com/up...6.fa406da6.zip from google
2) Rename to update.zip and place on SD Card.
3) Reboot, holding x while powering back on until a triangle with ! in it appears.
4) Release x, press camera/volume up at the same time.
5) Apply update.zip (dpad used for navigation).
6) Reboot, enjoy stock 2.1 -

04-03-2010 02:41 PMalright 2 more things....do i need an sd card reader? or can i place it on there via the usb cable on the phone? and when you say x....is that the x button? also, am i placing the update.zip in the root (aka the base system...just open the phone in my computer and place it right in there?)
