How to back up pictures?

I just went out and bought a brand new Droid, hearing it was the bee's knees. However, upon transferring all of my photos, I THOUGHT the sales associate at Verizon had accidentally made two copies of each photo in a file called "Pictures" (or something along those lines) and another file, "my_pix." Being completely OCD, I deleted all of the photos in one of the albums and it turns out that both albums were deleted and all of my pictures are now gone. I know the man was able to put them on the SD card that came with my phone, but is it possible that the photos are still on there? If so, how should I go about retrieving them?

if you deleted the pictures off of the SD card then there pretty much gone. otherwise they would show up in your "gallery" application

You might have a copy left on your old phone if the pictures were copied and not moved to the Droid.
