droid memory problem

I might be a complete nub on this because I've only had my droid for two weeks. I have advanced task killer program and it seems like every time I look at it the memory seems to go lower and lower. I was wondering why this is happening and how it affects my droid performance (acting sluggish or something because sometimes mine is sluggish when browsing on the web). and also my droid crashed twice already I was wondering if this is normal or not. And also that memory goes up to like over 100m right after a restart but it slowly gets down to like the 30s. I love the phone I'm just trying to make sure I didn't a defective one. If anyone needs more info I'll try to fill it in the best I can and as fast as I can

have you used the task killer to actually kill one? i noticed on mine, it wasnt killing them and i did them myself.....

Yeah I use it to kill the browser and such when I get done with it and when I kill it it seems like the memory goes up a little on the task killer. sometimes I noticed that it doesn't kill the app like pandora if it's playing on the background. I actually had to go into the settings to stop that one.

Don't obsess over how much memory you have free. Unused memory is just wasted memory. Also, unless you have a rogue app you need to kill there is no need for a task killer. The OS will start and stop apps as needed.

I have the same trouble on my Droid. If all the memory is being used for crap that's been left running, when I try to open a new ap or make a darn phone call the OS has to first dump another ap to get the memory it needs to run. Some of these aps do not LET android shut them without a fight which takes time. On top of that the process in Android to organize these handovers kind of just plain sucks.
I use my ap killer and it says 9 aps killed 32mb memory available. What the hell is that? An ap killer is supposed to KILL ALL APS if thats the way I have it set. I should have all my memory available minus what the OS needs to run, but Android does not do this. My ap killer is the Advanced Task Killer that everyone uses and recommends...

Android is just turning out to be far less than perfect as time goes on...which could be solved if I wasn't stuck in this stupid two year contract with an increasingly obsolete phone.

I'm sorry you're unhappy with your phone, but please dont blame a misunderstanding of the OS.

As people have stated before, task killers are ONLY recommended to kill rogue apps which leak memory. If you find yourself with this problem, the best solution is to remove the app and replace it with a more reputable/higher quality version. This should be pretty easy.

As previously stated, Android was written with memory management and battery life in mind. As such, messing with the OS by augmenting the task manager is only asking for problems.

Killing system apps to perform tasks is ultimately negative, and if the OS is having a hard time killing an app, then you need to replace the app.
