Has anyone had someone report that THEY were echoing when on a phone call with you?

I am trying to iron out some of the minor kinks (as you might have noticed these last couple of days) with my phone that are irritating.

The latest is when talking to my wife at night (and she says this only happens when talking to me)...after a little bit, she starts to hear an echo on her end. I hear absolutely nothing like this ever. But she gets it with me, occasionally...

Voice privacy is unchecked, and I have tried 13k, ECVR and ECVR-B all with about the same effect. I read somewhere to try to enable speakerphone and turn it off, and that seems to work temporarily....

But that doesn't seem to identify the problem nor really truly fix it.

According to this article it was due to be fixed in what I am guessing was the 2.0.1 patch, but clearly that didn't happen as I am on 2.0.1 (with BB rom of course).

Also there doesn't seem to be a fix as of page 45 on this thread (but there are all kinds of other non-related issues being discussed by page 45):

Verizon updates Droid, but echo problem still a mystery - MOBILE.BLORGE

Obviously if I am linking all these with no solutions, I guess I probably won't expect a solution from people here. Perhaps you guys can just join in and gripe with me.

Honestly, I'm getting a little frustrated...if the Nexus had a physical keyboard there is no doubt I would buy one the day it became available March 23rd or whatever for Verizon. But the non-physical keyboard is making me a little reluctant. Also not sure if I could use Titanium Backup or whatnot to port all my apps and data over.

I have had people report this to me on just about every phone I have had. I think its signal strength at a given location, usually happens with speakerphone...

I am currently considering returning my Droid due to this issue. I have had several people comment on the change in phone voice quality since I switched from Palm Treo 755p. I got it to use primarily as a phone, pda, and a way to connect to work email through exchange. So far, two major strikes. Spoken to level two support at both Verizon and Motorola, they seem to think my problem is isolated. Hmmmm.....

Thanks for the heads up, but please pardon my ignorance; how do I determine if it is rooted? I am on Verizon and would love to find a way to get this to work like I need it to.

If you don't know you are rooted, then you aren't rooted. It's a deliberate process that you have to follow to hack your phone.

It's definitely not isolated. Check and see if hitting the speakerphone button on and off real quick solves the problem and let us know.

It's not a real solution, obviously, but at least a temp fix. I am going to call Verizon as well at some point when I get a chance and complain to perhaps get it out there that it is a problem.
