Wrong contact being displayed in stock messaging app

I have this issue as well. Both rooted and unrooted. With lots of texts and none. It is usually the top two contacts listed in my text history showing the same name. If I let it sit long enough it will auto correct itself. First, the wrong one will switch to the correct number, and show no name. Then it will start showing the correct name. It is happening pretty often. I wish I could find a solution to this.

It appears to be an issue with syncing Facebook contacts. It will have the number and history right, but the name/facebook status of the wrong person. For me it's the top 2 messages (the last two) that are always identical.

Handcent does it for me sometimes also. Not sure what's gives, but it usually happens when I'm making my phone do like 5 things at once and have an a$$ ton of messages in my inbox. I just rebooted and everything goes back to normal..

That shouldn't be it because I don't use Facebook often and I certainly don't sync Facebook contacts. I specifically chose not to do so.

I used to have this prob also....it stopped once I started using ultimatedroid rom...now I believe its a bug in 2.0.1 so with the ota update it should be fixed...if not and ur rooted u can try to install the new messaging app and see if that does the trick...u need to dl it n use terminal em to push it same as stock with a few more options like black banground n text size its nice...I started using handcent though bc with my rom it causes no excess lag whatsoever even with pop ups n I like the amout of custimization got blue bubbles for my texts with my android background in text windows love it

It wasnt a FB sync issue with me either. The problem seemed to be less and less existent. I havent seen it with 2.1 yet.

Don't suppose anyone has come up with a solution for this? I am still having this issue at 2.1. I had is stock and running UD 9.8. It can happen with no SMS messages on the phone or dozens.

FYI, I haven't had this issue in months. Running Chevy's ROM's and now Cyanogen's. These intermittent problems are the worst.
