I've had my Droid for 1 week now. I didn't want to post this until I had tried some resolutions myself.
I cannot set-up an embarqmail e-mail account. When I follow the simple instructions, I get an error message that says "Set-up cannot be completed. No response from the server." I've tried multiple combinations of embarqmail.com and centurylink.net. No joy. I even went back to the VZ store and the technicians there first told me it was a problem w/ Embarq...aka CenturyLink. When I told them my wife got a Blackberry Tour at the same time and her embarq e-mail works fine, they took the phone into the back room, came back and said "We'll have to research this." But, to date, no one has contacted me.
One other thing...I logged into CenturyLink on my computer w/ my user ID and password and was able to see my e-mail there...just wanted to check if I remembered my user ID and password correctly.
I really like the functionality of the Droid (my first smart phone) but I need access to my embarq e-mail account.
Can someone suggest a cure or tell me what questions to ask of the VZ store technicians? Or, should I contact CenturyLink tech service and go there instead of back to the VZ store?
