Question Unable to run Amazon apps after Gingerbread update

So I installed the Gingerbread update for my Droid X. Overall, its seems fine. Minus a couple keyboard issues I had at first.

However, I've now noticed that whenever I try to play any games or use any apps I've downloaded from the Amazon App Store, I'm getting this error.

"You don't own this app. Would you like to see more details?"

I'm then given 2 options. Quit or "More details". The "More details" option takes me to the Amazon App store. I assume it does that so you can purchase the app. However, I already have so it just gives me the "Open" option.

I tried clearing cache, didn't help. I uninstalled one app and tried reinstalling. Now it won't even install

Anyone having the same issue? Anyone have any idea as to what I can do about this?

    Thanks in advance.

Uninstall the apps, and then redownload them. Some kind of license checker for amazon app store is in the system files somewhere. If you replace them, that file will not be there anymore, thus, needing to redownload. The reason amazon app store just shows open instead of buy, is because it sees the apk installed on the phone.

I received this answer from Amazon.

    IT WORKED!!

I'm sorry you're having trouble running and installing your apps after updating your Droid X to Android 2.3. Usually this type of error can be remedied by reinstalling the Appstore.

Here's how to uninstall the Amazon Appstore from your device:

    1. Press the Home button.

    2. From the Home screen, press your device's Menu button.

    3. Tap Settings, tap Applications, then select Manage Applications.

    4. Select Appstore. You may need to select the All tab before the Appstore is visible in the list.

    5. Tap Uninstall, then select OK to confirm.

To reinstall the Appstore, go to: www.amazon.com/appstoregetstarted

Unable to run Amazon apps after Gingerbread update

Not to be a smart-butt. But are you sure you are logging into the appstore with the correct Amazon account? I only say this because I was in the same situation and getting pretty annoyed. I uninstalled and re-installed the appstore, and that didn't work. I even started looking into doing an SBF restore to Froyo. But, for some reason I decided to check a rarely used e-mail account of mine, and it had all of the e-mails from the Amazon Appstore from when I made purchases. Sometimes you have to second guess yourself.

This worked for me - went to my account on Amazon.com, logged in with the email address tied to my phone (as I have multiple accounts). Clicked on Digital Devices and Apps at the left. In a box at the right it showed that I had 3 phones (I only have one) - I deregistered all of them. Entered the email address in the field marked: Send Amazonapp Store to a new device - downloaded it again - it overwrote the one on my phone - all of my apps are now accessible.

I had previously uninstalled a free app of the day and it downloaded again with no problems (even though it is now a paid app) after reinstalling the Appstore.

I just spoke with Amazon, as I am having a problem where it continually forgets my credentials and it's happening on both a droid3 and a droid1. Amazon just told me it's a known issue and they should have it fixed with a patch in 2-3 weeks. They gave me a credit as an apology.
