deffective droid pro?

HI! so i've had my droid pro for about a month and i love it! the only problem is when i make a call the screen automatically goes black. even before i put it up to my ear. i couldn't get calls if i had too until i figured out the setting to use the lock button. so i was dealing with this little glitch until now i've had a voicemail i cant hear. there is no way for me to get the screen to light back up no matter what i press so type in my password. i've even held the phone up to the light so maybe the sensor would detect it wasn't near my face but nope. please help! is there something i can do? or is there something wrong with the phone that i need to talk to verizon about. thank you!
