looking for a good combo rom/kernel

hey im looking for ROMs and kernels, what works well together and what they're geared towards; better battery life. im currently on bb 0.6.2 with nothing else, i kinda favor bb but am will to try something else if it mean getting longer than 6hrs outta my phone. no dont get me wrong i love performace as much a the next person, so if i could get both or just back and forth i would be in heaven, see if you can help me and tell me your suggestions
