Long Press on the Home Screen and select Shortcut or Widget...select what you want.

From where? If you want to place a link to an app on your home screen, long press on the home screen, select "shortcut" and you can probably figure out the rest.

If you want to move them from screen to screen, drag (long press on icon) and drag them to the next screen.

Here's an interesting tip I found out. From your app drawer...long press on the icon and the app drawer will close but keep you dragging the app icon so you can put it on the home screen (or which ever screen you want).
