HTC Desire (Snapdragon) vs Motorola Milestone (OMAP3430)

    Intro
Here is my 3 part review on the HTC Desire vs Motorola Milestone.

They may look a little low-quality at first because they may still be processing (and I have a crappy webcam to record with).

    HTC Desire specs:
HTC Desire - Full phone specifications

Motorola Milestone specs (note: CPU is not 600MHz, Motorola set it to 550MHz for the final product for an unknown reason):
Motorola MILESTONE - Full phone specifications

    First part

    Second part

    Third part

The OMAP 3430 has a GPU that pushes 18.5M triangles and about 662M pixels per second @ 550MHz

The specs on the Snapdragon chipset list 22M triangles and 133M pixels per second.

The Snapdragon has a very poor fill rate thus the choppiness in games.

There is no 3D muscle in the Qulacomm.

So essentially depending on what you are doing the Qualcomm/Snapdragon will be poorer in some aspects and better in others and vice versa.

    1GHZ is a marketing ploy.

I think the extra 3.5m polygons (they aren't called triangles) per second is a pretty good show of muscle, not to mention the WiFi performance is also a winning factor.

I had nothing but sloppy performance with the Milestone. I haven't had that issue with the Desire.

exactly : ) which is why I said:

Gaming is not a strong point with devices using the Qualcomm. Not yet at least.

Now THAT is a better more neutral stance. In my videos I took a neutral stance, for example: what I was experiencing, thinking and noticing at that time I mentioned for each device. I really miss the tactile keyboard but I just get frustrated with the sluggishness and crashes the Milestone has.

If Motorola had the bootloader unlocked I wouldn't have bought the Desire.
