maybe not newsworthy, but it'll be interesting how the Iphone sales are impacted by this

This was expected. Doesn't make sense for them to offer an "open" or unlocked phone that can only work on one small (and in many areas useless) network. The better question is why they didn't start with AT&T or at least offer it at the same time. But you're right, it will be interesting to see if it effect the iPhone but I'm will to bet that will be more determined by what (if any) subsidies AT&T offers.

it's going to probably be the same subsidy, as it will also be purchasable from Google...
