My friend just got a htc inspire 4g and he can't install apps that aren't from the market.
I don't think it's an htc problem. As I have a moto Droid and it does the same to me and alot of others iv talked to. I'm pretty sure its a market problem.

Does it have a setting to allow apps from secondary sources to be installed in the settings?

Under Settings, Applications, do you have Unknown sources checked? This enables you to install apk files from any source.

You do know that AT&t prevents installation of non market apps right?

What idk att did that and I went to settings then application it should be the first one there my moto droid 2 has it I guess its the carrier.

Thanks but I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to root it he just got it and is new to android
