Droid Eris runs incredibly slow

I gave my hubby my eris in oct when I got my fascinate, and it runs painfully slow, to the point of almost not being worth using.

Bearing in mind that I am a noob and don't know about flashing and custom roms etc, any suggestions?

Or should I just give him the fascinate in a couple weeks when I get the tb?

i was a noob when i first got my eris about 5 months ago (now i have tb, lol), but if you do your research and follow the instructions in the link below, its easy to root, flash gingerbread (latest update-i had version 2.0 before i got the tb), and overclock it (using setcpu)....when i did all of that to my eris, it was a completely different phone....it did everything i needed it to do, it was quick, and i customized it to my liking....i would just try those things first....

use this link to flash gingerbread, gapps, and cache2cache

you flash gingerbread the same way they flashed froyo in the first link....the 2nd link doesn't go into as much detail about flashing the rom like the first one does....so just substitute gingerbread in for froyo and you should be fine....also i watched some people do it on youtube as well to make sure i felt comfortable with doing it.....

Can you just dl the gb file directly to the sd card and bypass the computer? (my pc is down)?

I honestly do not know, I have always did it the cpu way....so I do not feel comfortable giving you a direct yes our no answer, also remember to make a nan droid backup, just in case something goes wrong....

The link below says you can, read it and you can see that it is an option, but like I said earlier I only use my cpu...rom manager is another tool you can use as well, but I don't like using that either...
