I have a sanyo zio and simply need a firmware update. I tried doing it manualy in my settings, and every atempt resulted in no available updates. I have 2.1 I think. Help me out!!!

Ok, this probably is gonna sound stupid but this is my first android so here it go's..

HOW DO I TURN OFF THE NO SERVICE BEEP AND NOTIFICATION ICON???

I live in the basement of my house and dont get very good reception in some places and the beep drives me nutz!
It beeps when it dosn't have signal and when it finds signal again!!! PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

Enable Airplane mode in your network settings to disable to annoying beep. It turns off service reception. It also saves power. WIN WIN. Personally, it was annoying the hell out of me because I live outside Sprint's sacred coverage area. And it would constantly bleep while I was listening to music. I use wifi and skype for calls, so figuring this out was a godsend. Hope this helps!! No way to just disable the sound that I know of, in case you're wanting to keep the service coverage. But if you're just listening to music, or watching videos, or playing games or some other non call related function. By all means enable Airplane mode.
