Current Source OS is Froyo 2.2.1
Current build for the Motorola Droid is FRG22D
Current build for the Nexus One is FRG83

Your phone can run 2.2.1, but not FRG83. FRG83 is a nexus one build, just as FRG22D is a droid build. FRG22D contains moto's latest proprietary files (the files that make your droid a droid) and FRG83 contains google's latest proprietary for the N1.

I built 2.2.1 apps from source for my Droid X blurless rom, but it doesn't mean I'm running FRG83 parts, it means i'm using the latest google updated apps
