I can speak from the theme side of things..... Themes are very time consuming and are very personal. I have seen many users port themes and use parts of themes without permission or giving any credit. This is very frustrating and just wrong. We put in a lot of time creating themes for people to use and enjoy. And trust me, there is very little donations being sent these days.... But we dont do it for the donations. We do it for the gratification of our work and the verbal appreciation of the users.

Do I condone what Bgill did, HELL NO! No dev should EVER create anything that would loop someones phone. Especially when they didnt have any beef with the users.

I have been asked many times if someone could port my themes to their rom. I have no problem with anyone porting my stuff... As long as I agree to it and credit is given. I think most themers would find that as a compliment to their work.

First Off let me start with my Apology I wasnt asked to give this Im doing this of my own free will!

My actions last night were out of frustration and Anger. Im normally a level headed person anyone can tell you that that knows me. What I did was wrong I am aware of that and Im truly Sorry to the few That flash the Incognito theme for diffent Rom that wasn't UD. thats all it was it didnt do anything to the phone s System just loaded a Service.jar from a different Rom. the updater-script that they saw was just for looks. Im not saying what I did want that bad it was I would be ticked off too, but I flew Off the handle after I tried to take the higher road. when I first saw Incognito on UD I didnt post anything wrong I talked to BD and told him why I was upset and we got things Squared away. Few Days later Red Rum shows up, again no permission was asked or even a PM a simple "Thanks for the person that made this" was all that was said. These themes take Weeks and weeks do build and My frustration grew.

I had my word with the people that ported it and nothing was solved just a "get over it" response. again the anger building. at this Time Redman comes into the picture and says ill port any theme I want and you cant do anything about it (which is true). I just have never seen this lack of respect from anyone. Still I let it go. I released Incognito v1.5 Yesterday and not even a half hour later its up on UD with a new Name(see pic below)





please understand I have worked so hard on this theme and to have it just thrown around like a $3 hooker from Vegas is very upsetting. I have edited over 50 XMLs and over 3000 images one way or another. at this Point I so upset im seeing red and that when I made the Huge mistake of makeing that theme for UD. I know now that it was so stupid and immature and once again I am truly sorry.

So basically I am being told that UD's ban goes mysteriously "deeper" then the wiki that I read from a google search (again I had zero idea what the big deal was all about).

I then see developers specifically targeting users of UD in a malicious way going so far as to join IRC and sweettalk people into using a malicious piece of software.

I see mods immediately locking down the ONE UD thread that has the "privilege" to be allowed in a generic rom section of the forums for a reason that I personally had to reread FOUR times. Then the mod proceeded to insult ALL users of UD (funny enough the insult was edited) something to the effect of "the balls on these UD users." Who quickly reopened the thread again.

I have seen no formal apology for illegally and maliciously spreading a malicious piece of code with the intent of targeting and destroying END user's data.

I have seen no ban or punishment to this person or group of people that did this.

I have seen a ban towards the person that stated this
"I did it myself, I haven't posted it up anywhere I don't plan too, I know its his baby not mine 2 distribute, its my favorite theme & I wanted it on my favorite rom"

I feel like I am walking on eggshells around here only because I choose to support a certain ROM, my first post a few pages ago was immediately deleted within 30 seconds, however seeing the general level of maturity of people in "power" around here I made sure I had it saved in notepad and was going to continue to copy / paste until I got banned because honestly this is the make or break point for droidforums and myself, I'll just hang out back on xda and enjoy a community that helps each other and doesn't spread viruses with no repercussions from moderators.

What would I like to see?

A. A poll asking the current 14k viewers of droidforums a simple yes or no answer, "should UD have his own section for users to feel free to discuss" with a honest writeup of the reasons he was banned in the first place (saying it goes deeper then you know is not acceptable)

B. A FORMAL AND PUBLIC apology from whoever was involved with spreading malicious code specifically targeted at UD users. These users just destroyed this website's credibility and having a mod say "well he apologised to us" does not cut it, the mods were not the target of this MALICIOUS attack.

C. Some faith gained back at the moderators of this forum, right now it feels like the people in power hold a specific grudge against UD and are saying one thing and doing the other.

howardforums, XDA, modaco, ppcgeeks, and the other many other websites I have read have NEVER had these issues, funny that most of the work done was a "grey" area of legality (using stolen windows mobile code updates and whatnot, ms didnt care however they could have), and the work here for the most part is supposed to conform to open source standards, however HERE is the place that immature and unnecessary drama happens.

TLDR: Replace the moderators.

While I do appreciate the apology, it still doesn't make me trust you. I will probably never use anything you make again. It is the sneaky way you went about doing it. You came into IRC and being all nice and saying you'd port it yourself knowing full well what your true intentions were. Everyone was very excited about it and complimenting you. How twisted is that. I won't post the pastebin as I don't think it's necessary.

I also didn't appreciate your response to me on twitter when I said what you did to UD users was f'd up and that you would lose respect from them. I'll leave out your other little buddies that responded. I quote "@nwgal34 Well let see the only ones effected were UD users! so im good I will sleep well!!! by the way who are you?"

I also would like to say the way Redmanx handled it was poor. He was rude and I don't like the way he acted either. What he did was wrong, he should have asked and he should have been nicer. BUT he is a really nice guy as well and he was doing the users a favor by bringing the themes that they love to UD.

No need for a poll.

Seeing how blackdroid has conducted himself through this entire thing and asking that bgill not be banned and banning redmanX speaks volumes of him. Holding a grudge? How about holding him in VERY high regard.
