you mean a Rom with no su in it, or like froyo you can install without rooting? and why don't you want to root?

yes, no root at all like verizon would push it out.answer to your question is becuase i dont need all that stuff i just want my phone faster, and i want flash, but everyone just has ones that are root, and yes no-superuser. thank you for the reply.
Well i dont think thats possible yet. unless you can flash the froyo leak without a custom recovery? but honestly itd be just as easy and probably safer to root and just not use the root features.

yes, but what happens if my phone breaks?, cant return it back to verizon?
then you could flash the stock recovery. and if its broken to the point where you cant do that then how is verizon going to tell the difference? ive returned rooted phones before, they didnt care. the "rooting voids your warranty" only applys to damages caused through rooting like if you bricked.

i could brick it....screw it, hope it comes out 13th, if not ill get the Droid X still havent used my new every 2 yet.
i would think if you upgraded to an unrooted 2.2 and you took it to verizon, it would still void your warranty. Unless they release it, 2.2 is a modification to the OS and violates warranty.
There was a froyo that didn't require root. I would not recommend you try that one, there were issues with that one. It was the first Froyo to come out. You still needed to flash SPRecover via RSD Lite to use that one.
