Froyo Wifi Issues

All right. I have heard a lot of people having troubles with wifi and Froyo. I've tried plenty of ROMs and kernels, and I still can't get hooked up to particular networks. I can get hooked up to non-secure and SOME secure networks on Froyo, but others it just says "Connecting..." then disconnects and can't get it to work.

Any one have any helpful hints or tricks for those of us having this issue?

I have no hints, but I have some clues for anyone with the wherewithal to sort it out.

I have noticed that I specifically can not connect to wifi networks with more than one transmitter. when I chart the wifi with "wifi analizer" (BTW, great App), I see each wifi router pop up a signal spike every few seconds. It is as if the Droid is having trouble latching on to just one router.
