Cyanogenmod 5.0.8

It took me about 15 minutes to dump cyanogenmod 5.0.8 and go back to Bugless...Is that cyn rom based on 2.1 or 2.2? It was sluggish, got a 377 quadrant score, a bunch of things didnt work....wtf?

The default launcher is ADW...It seems to me that launcherpro is way better...Anyway, the new cyanogen rom didn't work out for me, in fact it turned my phone into a piece of junk, thank God for Pete!

its 2.1 i tried it just to try it i didnt think it was all that slow but cyanogen roms are just huge battery hogs in my opinion.

Interesting...who is "he?" He seems like he's got good marketing with his brand, his website, his own forum...Does he post on this forum? And why wouldn't he release a 2.2, does he not want it to be unstable or experimental because he'e trying to run a ROM business?

He is a programmer who builds custom ROMs for the Nexus One based on Google AOSP. The build is ported to the Droid by a Guy named koush. Since the 2.2 source has not yet been released, he cannot build a 2.2 ROM.

I can safely say your experience was much poorer than most of us, particularly when seeing that quadrant bench. I run CM and for me it is the best out there. But since BB works for you then by all means stick with that.

That's cool, I ran CM 5.0.7.1 for a while and I liked it, but the way I have BB right now is really stable and fast for me. I guess I assumed that 5.0.8 was going to be 2.2. When does the 2.2 source get released?

When Froyo is released.

Everyone running Froyo right now are either: Google employees, members of the press, or people who downloaded a leaked and/or hacked version on their device.

Froyo IS NOT out yet.

CM is built from source. The first ROM on the droid to be done that way (only in the past week has another ROM been completely compiled from source). Of course any 2.2 ROM will be faster than a 2.1 ROM as 2.2 is muuuuch faster than 2.1. Once 2.2 source is released, you can rest assured his ROM will kick ass

Google apps are a separate install on Cyanogen ROMs. There will be a second file available to download from wherever you got it from.
