How to un-root your Droid.(Easiest Way)

Okay so I know there are other posts on how to do this by the SPRecovery nandroid backup and the sbf from Motorola but this is a simple update.zip you place on your MicroSDHC card.


For SPRecovery
Step 1: Flash SPRecovery(does not work with ClockworkMod recovery)

Step 2: Download unroot_update.zip

Step 3: Boot into recovery by using ROM Manager from the Market or Quick Boot from the Market.

Step 3: Now in SPRecovery go to install



Step 4: Allow update.zip installation



Step 5: Install update.zip from the SD card



Step 6: It should have finished and reboot

For Stock Recovery Image:

Step 1: Reboot into recovery by Quick Boot from the Market

Step 2: Press the camera and volume up buttons until you get a menu.

Step 3: Choose to apply update.zip



Step 4: Now it should be done and you can reboot



Now to make sure your Droid is unroot open up your application tray and make sure you dont have Superuser Permissions, if you do start the process over by using the stock recovery image method.

i keep getting a screen in sprecovery that says the file cannot be located, installation aborted. yet when i connect my droid to my computer, i can find the update.zip file as being on the phone. should i have renamed it to update.zip or no?

It's because SPRecovery struggles sometimes (i should say most of the time) when it comes to reading the SD card. Keep rebooting and sooner or later (roughly 10 times has been the general norm) and it will read it, install then. It's a common Droid issue.

Well in the download section of rom manager there is a section where you can dowload the stock versions and you can use rom manager to flash clockworks recovery and then use the install rom feature and it does it all for you without a hitch

So my power button stopped working, however i need to find a way to unroot my phone so i could take it to verizon store for a replacement phone. Can you help me do this?? Also my boot to recovery does not work in my rom manager for some strange reason.. im always just stuck at the M screen..
