Stuck w/ Overclocking
I'm trying to push the 900mhz image over to my Droid. I'm trying these instructions:
OverClocking Motorola Droid To 1.3 GHz In 7 Easy Steps | areacellphone.com
And I get to Step 7 and it gives me permission denied. I checked the permissions of the file and it's owned by root. For some reason, in recovery only, I can't su, it says it's unavailable (I'm assuming I'm already root in recovery), but it won't let me chmod the files temporarily, it says read-only file system. I seem to remember a mount command a while back when root was in its early stages that would mount the filesystem read/write but would hate to forget a switch and set my phone on fire. Any suggestions?

Those are really old kernels. What are you running OS wise?

Find a newer kernel. Most new ones are packaged as update.zip files so you just install them that way, no commands or anything necessary.

I bet he has 2.1. That method isnt going to work if he does. You could always go back to 2.0.1. Check this thread out...Downgrade to 2.0.1. Once you have 2.0.1 I would just use DMupdater to root and overclock. Its easier IMO.

I'm on BB.9. I literally just went to it from DroidMod and really don't want to deal with downgrading again, rooting again, sprecovery again, installing the apps again, etc etc etc. That's why I was hoping to go through the manual way. The BB.9 OCs to 600mhz, but I would like to go faster. Any suggestions?

If you have BB then you already have the ability to overclock and are rooted. If you want to do 900 Mhz just install a kernel that supports it.

Now I feel stupid, that's what I thought I was doing. Any links?

Yeah hold on a sec...
Ok this is the link to the Bugless Beast V0.9 Rom. He listed some kernels that will work with ERE25. Some by ChevyNo1 and others by Adamz. Just choose the developer, click the link, and follow the instructions.

All I'm seeing here is how to downgrade to 2.0.1. I've got a clean nandroid backup of 2.0.1 that I can jump down to if absolutely necessary. Problem is that I'm not seeing any links to OC kernels. I'm on page 8 while Googling around for it.

Sorry wrong link. I fixed it. You wont need to go back to 2.0.1. I only mentioned that earlier cause i thought you had done the OTA update.
Try This link Bugless Beast V.09
