The rescue squad has researched many options and we've had lots of discussion on how to use RSD on Mac's. I use a Mac so I personally contacted Motorola. The rep I spoke with indicated that, at this time, Motorola does not have anything in the works for Mac's. Unfortunately, at this time, our efforts have not been successful.
Not the answer you want to hear, I'm sure.

Can't Macs dual-boot with WinXP and then load RSDLite?
VMware Fusion: Run Windows and Chrome OS on Mac for Desktop Virtualization
30 day free trial, run windows in a virtual machine on your mac.
install RSD
root your phone.
uninstall vmware
profit
Yes, Mac's have Boot Camp which allows on to install Windows or one can install Paralles or VMWare. The down side is the cost of licenses(Windows, Paralles or VMWare). Tposy, thanks for the insight re the 30 free trial. When I was doing the costing, I had not considered the free-trial versions.
I am still looking for a work around.

ya licensing issues could be a hindrance.
i did read at some point that some earlier moto phones people were able to flash the phones from ubuntu using ssh, but i haven't seen anything about the droid specifically.
virtual box dose the same thing as vm ware and parallels and it free cost of windows is still there but thought i would give you the tip.
