not sure if I want to data wipe so... best 2.0.1 ROM?
I'm using BB 0.7.6 right now, and I get FCs every so often (like episodes every hour or so) and I think this thing could be running faster.
Is it worth installing a 2.1 ROM? If not, what should I upgrade to?
Thanks.... sorry if this post doesn't make sense... just watched Purdue get thrashed and now its late

they do make apps that backup your data, text/sms messages, call log, etc..
titanium backup and my backup pro are 2 off the top of my head. astro can backup apps too.
all paid apps are stored in your google account and if your old free apps dont show up in market just write them in a list beforehand and download em again..

Pretty easy, as stated to get back to where you were but with a better rom but I am a big fan of droidmod. I switched to ultimate Droid 8.1.1 to try a 2.1 out and its awesome. The way I look at it is you're gonna switch to 2.1 at some point anyway so go ahead and get it over with.

DroidMod is a very good 2.0.1 Rom

All right, I guess I'll give it a try. I have all my music on my computer and like 15 contacts anyway, plus Facebook.
Is UD pretty snappy and good battery-life-wise?
Purchased DROID: Feb 8
activated: Feb 13
rooted: Feb 20
installed Bugless Beast and OC'ed to 1GHz: Feb 21
Looked back: N/A

Your contacts and calendar are saved to your google account, so you won't lose them, and you don't wipe your sd card so no music saved there is lost either.

i was hesitant as well. had been on Sholes 2.0.5 and was loyal for a long time, but was getting FC's everyday.
i also used Titanium backup, especially for something like Handcent. did much better doing an app and data restore of Handcent when going to 2.1.
also would rec do an export of all contacts before you go to 2.1 as well.
but i went to Adamz 6.0 and it has been the best ROM i have ever tried, and will be some time before i try something else.
Beautiful Widgets does throw a FC every so often, maybe a couple of times a week, but nothing that will make me want to change.

Unless you don't care make sure you back up your apps and data

Don't be scared heres what you need to do:
-Do a backup of your rom right now using sprecovery or clockwork...just in case
-Download Titanium from the market and use it to back up your apps.
-Nothing on the sd card gets wiped!
-Flash your new rom!
-Download Titanium again.
-Let Titanium restore all your stuffs.
-Enjoy your rom!
