    Best rom without homescreen auto-rotate?

I'm new to this whole rom things, so bear with me, but can anyone give me some recommendations on what the best roms are that don't force you to have homescreen auto-rotate? I want to use the Sense UI 2.1 launcher and it doesn't seem to play well with landscape mode.

With the exception of maybe koush's 2.1 rom, none of the 2.1 based launchers auto rotate.

All of them will with the keyboard open, however. I am unsure if that can be disabled.

But if I use Rom X (for example, let's say DroidMod) that auto-rotates, with Launcher Y that does not auto-rotate, won't the launcher try to rotate into landscape since the rom does? Or do the custom roms just rotate the icons and not the launcher?

You do realize you can go into settings, sound and display settings, and shut off the autorotate yourself?

    Not for Homescreen rotation.

gatorbait, maybe look into "GDE" in the market? They have a Hero theme that you can apply and works with the keyboard open as well and does not auto-rotate the homescreen.

That will work on all the native apps ... but if the launcher has auto-rotate built-in, it will still rotate - so that I believe is all launcher. I have pretty much the exact same launcher (2.0.1), but two versions. One auto-rotates, one doesn't.

Yes, I do realize that, but from what I've read, if you disable auto-rotate in these roms it will disable auto-rotate in the browser, email, etc. as well. I just don't want the homescreens to auto-rotate because the launcher I want to use doesn't work in landscape.

Ya i get people want just the homescreen rotation disabled.
since i use both views personally , i've never looked into how it's being disabled.

Try alldroid. pete , adamz, or xeudoxus surely know how.

Very constructive answer you gave there.

What about when I am holding my phone horizontally and it suddenly believes it to be in landscape mode? I would prefer not to deal with force closes every time. I am also looking for a compromise via software, not in how I deal with monitoring the angle I hold to phone at every second.

Am I wrong in making the assumption that some Droid users have used some of these auto-rotate roms while also porting over different 2.1 launchers? Or did you just switch to a more compatible rom?
