[2.1 ROM - 1.25Ghz] Simply Stunning V1.0.3 (2/28/2010)
If you currently have a version of SS running on your Droid now, you're probably wondering what you get in this upgrade. Here is what is new:
1. A new kernel - still 10 slots, 1.25 Ghz max, but now includes a stock 550 slot. Also defaults to 550 until modified by SetCPU, etc.
2. Reskinned apps to match the blue/glass theme better: Browser/Contacts/News/Gmail/Launcher/Mms/Settings/Market/Youtube
3. 2.1 Music app
4. A free market Live Wallpaper (Starfield)
5. New framework that fixes the automatic unlocking of phone when keyboard is slid open (ALL credit to Greek35T for this)
Since the update.zip ONLY contains the updates, it is small and installs quickly, leaving all your data intact.
NOTE - If you are running the 2.1 launcher in a previous version of SS - it is now gone, which means you will have to reset your home screen widgets and icons.
NOTE: There is a bug in the launcher where you'll see no icons when it first boots up. Swipe one screen left and they are there. Working on this currently.
If you are coming from 2.0.1, you MUST data wipe - if you do not, you WILL have problems
update.zip Installation Instructions:
Copy the update.zip to the root of your sdcard
Reboot into recovery mode
Install
Allow update.zip
Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
Reboot Your data is safe and will not be touched!
Nandroid Installation Instructions:
-NO data wiping required if using 2.1 now - your settings and apps stay intact, just like update.zip
-It is strongly suggested to nandroid-backup your current ROM before doing anything!
-Extract the files from the archive using WinRAR or a similar program
-Place the extracted folder (the ROM) into the "nandroid" folder on your sdcard
-Reboot into recovery mode
-Backup/Restore
-Advanced Nandroid Restore
-Choose backup (select the ROM)
-Perform Restore
-Done!
Do not worry that it shows 'data' as automatically being selected. It doesn't matter, as no data partition is in this nandroid backup. Your data is safe and will not be touched!
Base:
Greek35T's Version 1 ROM (he has done an amazing job of producing these base ROM's, all credit goes to him)
Added:
-Overclocked Kernel with TEN slots allows clocking of 125-1250 MHz in mixed steps (credit to ChevyNo1)
- This kernel also includes all 2.6.32 backport patches (soft keyboard/light-sensor/brightness)
- Now supports TempMonitor!
- Based on sholes latest kernel source + my slot patches
- I have spent many hours tweaking this kernel to run at the lowest possible voltage (no significant increase until 1100Mhz)
- With the 2.0.1 launcher, my testing + real world use has been rock solid, no reboots, no FC's, even @ 1.25Ghz
- This is a new kernel from previous releases that should run cooler, therefore more stable. This ALSO includes the STOCK
- 550Mhz slot, and the kernel DEFAULTS to that speed, until you use an app like SetCPU.
-Corporate Calendar
-2.1 Desk Clock
-2.1 Keyboard with voice input
-2.1 Gallery 3D, MultiTouch
-2.1 Music App
-2.1 Glassed News and Weather App (credit to ChevyNo1)
-2.1 Live Wallpapers Including Working Nexus (credit to koush)
-2.0.1 5-screen Launcher (credit to xeudoxus)
-HQ YouTube Default Tweak (credit to xeudoxus)
-HQ Video Recording Tweak (credit to Fede)
-Version Information In Settings > About Phone
-Disabled OTA Updates
-Disabled default ring delay of 3 seconds (credit to ChevyNo1)
-*Battery Saver* Wifi Scans Increased to 30 seconds (credit to ChevyNo1)
-Version Information In Settings > About Phone
-Completely Deodexed System (meaning easily customizable)
-FLAC Support (credit to Kenny Root)
-SuperUser App
-Flash Image
-Busybox
-Added commands sysrw/sysro for mounting /system read/write or readonly. Also note that sysro remounts read only AND performs the sync for you
-Added new Linux commands that I sorely missed:
more
head
tail
which
cp
grep
find
awk
sed
less
wc
Cleaned/linked the following commands which unnecessarily eat up 10MB of /system:
ash
chmod
clear
cp
dd
ifconfig
kill
printenv
traceroute
unzip
vconfig
vi
who
whoami
Removed:
-Camera Shutter Sound
-Video Recording Sound (credit to ChevyNo1)
Theme:
-Smoked Glass Blue (credit to AdamZ modified by ChevyNo1)
-Added custom status bar icons (credit to blake2050@droidforums)
-Added extra custom status bar icons (credit to mjones1052@droidforums)
-Progress bars changed to match blue theme (credit to ChevyNo1)
-Clear push-icons on desktop (credit to ReverendYo - skinned from Alldroid community ROM)
-White Clock (credit to Ohsaka)
Wifi-Tether - I have personally only tested the pre3 version SetCPU - not included as it is a paid Market app
Bugs:
-Not all Live Wallpapers are interactive (others need Launcher2, not included as it's too buggy)
-No auto-brightness - use other framework if you really need to have it
-In-call MUTE still not working (known issue with 2.1 ROMS)
Disclaimer:
This is an overclock ROM, therefore if you're not careful, you'll do damage. I am not responsible for any such damage, you use this of your own free will.
Enjoy, and feedback is always welcome - bugs included
The Linpack screenshot is with JIT enabled - 12.08

3 problems (i don't know if i'm not doing things wrong or if they are bugs)
1. Terminal emulator force closes everytime (cannot get it to work, had to install different terminal emulator form market by some other person)
2. Cannot install Pandora theme patch for the life of me (says push is not valid command, need step by step commands please)
3. No more song track/name display in notifications (is this just a bug?)
@ChevyNo1
What commands do you use to rename system apps like corp. calender so they are no longer in your apps anymore??
Your SS ROMs are bad ass btw and they keep getting better with every update (i'm following the updates religiously!)

1. Not sure which ones you're using, but I know one of the ones from the market has always force closed for me, had to use the other one. Now I use ConnectBot.
2. adb push <Pandora.apk> /system/app
3. I removed no apps this time around, nor in version 1.0.2. Are you running a previous version of SS?

Ya i just pulled from the update.zip, no worries.
Sadly isn't working with the 2.1 sbf dump i've been playing with though.
Just froze at the M logo.
Hmmmm ... were you able to run my previous 1.25 kernel?
Nope. This is the ERE25 sbf dump I'm playing with. Got root access working, but can't seem to get any kernel's to work with it. Verizon or Motorola (whoever worked on the update) seems to have changed something that breaks when flashing.
