NEW ROM: Smoked Glass 5.0.1

I have looked at so many videos in so many places, and I have to admit I am a little confused. At this time, i've decided that i DO want to root my phone, i WANT to OC it and want to install the Smoked Glass 5.0.1 ROM, however, I see a lot of conflicting opinions and suggestions on how to do this.

I apologize if this seems like a tall order, but can someone advise me either to a link or via message on a step to step on how to do all the above, as well as what programs I need to download? Some state DMupdater, some rooting manually etc... so I am seriously confused.

I'm on smoked glass 5.0 right now, and I started with droidmod. Only thing I did was the keep /data I think. The one where it says do this if your not coming from 2.1. I want to figure out which kernel I can use with droidmod, which of Chevy's kernels that is...anybody know??
