I went to 7.8 last night and didn't have any issues. But all the issues people were having made me feel more comfortable with my 7.6 backup that was flawless. So once the dust is settled, you can bet I'll updated to his new one.

I was having problems with 7.8 and 7.9. My dropcap wasn't working and neither was the wifi tethering. Just like others, the root permissions were not working. It even affected Setcpu. I resolved all my issues simply by installing 7.6. I didn't have a nandroid back-up so I just installed 7.6 and now everything is back to normal. I'm sticking with 7.6 until things get sorted. For those of you with 7.7 or higher who are afraid to go down to 7.6, I did it and it resolved my problems and caused no other issues so it's safe to do.
