I'd say the nandroid.....but both are ultimately risky either way
I personally use the nandroid method every single time I flash a ROM to avoid problems...so I can wipe my data, but I just restore my apps with Astro and all is good...

I have, many times, including donating to his work as well as making a guide for his people to install his product.
It's not his fault. It's just completely pointless because the live wallpapers are garbage, it's laggy because it's a "fake" 2.1, there is no autobrightness setting for some reason, and the list goes on and on.
Not his fault though.
