Installing roms

Just curious does anyone else install roms right from their phone just by downloading the zip ? I don't see the point in connecting the phone to the computer just to install the rom. What's the difference?

You can download the file with your phone. I've heard that sometimes people experience corrupted downloads more frequently if downloaded over a mobile network rather than Wifi, and you also would use a significant amount of data if you are on a tiered plan where that would matter. I've done it before though when I was away from home.
