Yes... you do need to root your phone and go to Sholes.info for SPRecovery 0.99.2b. I would install with their provided instructions. Droid Root Helper is a great tool, but it is ALWAYS better to actually learn the steps and what your are doing before taking shortcuts. You will learn that with SirPsycho's SPRecovery, you can back up EVERYTHING on your phone and go right back to where you came from...
MAKE A COMPLETE ADVANCED NANDROID BACKUP OF EVERYTHING. Do that with this or ANY other ROM out there.

how come after I installed this it allows me to go to 600mhz now with SetCPU?? Is that something in the image?

Search the forums for "overclock". It unlocks the true speed of the processor. Moto underclocked it to 550mhz for battery life. It has since been unlocked.

Yes... it is overclocked... and fast.

If you don't use any Overclocking apps, it will run at 600 MHz Max / 125 MHz Min.
And as far as battery life, if you use Set CPU to set it up to slow down when you turn off the screen, when its charging, or when your battery becomes low - I actually have it last much longer than stock. Not to mention, much faster.

And as far as it heating up - it never gets anywhere near as hot as normal charging. Honesty though, I haven't noticed it getting any hotter than normal - and I've had it overclocked for a couple weeks now. I do keep an eye on my battery specs/temp with Battery Life too.

So if I want wifi tether do I just have to install it or is something else required. I have it installed on the sholes rom 1.1 now if I install this will stay?

No I'm sorry but you have to push the twilan kernal over. If you can wait, I am going to upload a version with tether installed today when I get back home. If you don't do it correctly it will break overclocking.

The processor will slow down when it's in sleep. But, you can slow it even more with SetCPU on the market. I have mine at 500/125, sometimes 250/125, when it sleeps and it makes a big difference.

Also... even Pandora works great when you slow down your processor during sleep/standby.

As far as preferences in SetCPU, I have it at 600/125 normally (you can always boost the min setting on the fly for more performance), 500/125 in sleep/standby mode, and 500/125 when the battery is below 30%. I don't use the profile for charging because I use my phone while it charges a lot. Plus, if you turn your screen off when you charge it will lower the MHz based on the sleep/standby setting.
