MontyMo,
This definitely voids warranty. Rooting the phone in the first place will void the warranty. However, it's simple to revert back to the stock Verizon ROM. So test it out and see how it works. If you don't like it then feel free go back tot he stock ROM and you're all set.

** edit ok am dumb i see i am in SPRecovery already but i dont see where to do an advanced nandroid restore? Do i have to wipe data/ factory reset? or wipe cache partition?
Sorry this is the first time i have installed a rom. If you cant tell haha
No You don't have to format any of that. In fact you want to leave it since the rom will keep all your data. Are you running the latest SPRecovery? Go to restore/backup and you'll see towards the bottom an option for advanced restore. Click on that and select only the system and boot items. Then restore and you're good to go.

Thanks Aspesi4, I may give it a try. This reminds me of the first time I installed an OS on acomputer. I knew I was going to break something and never get back to where I was.
All this phone is a computer. If it goes up in flames, I can always throw in in the toilet. I have the Verizon extended warranty.

Question? What steps would I take if I'm going from 2.1 to this theme. Thanks in advance.

I really feel like a dope, where do I find sprecovery? I looked in the market, googled it... no luck

well i am learning this whole rooting thing this morning when it comes up it reads android system recovery <2e> Patched by SirPsychoS (0.12.0)
is there a newer version out than this. I am using the droidroothelper-v3.0 (mostly because i was unsure of all those linux commands and thought this was an easy way to do it.
again sorry for the noobie comments. the previous poster is right its like installing an os for the first time. geez i was a computer science major and this is confusing to me haha.

Do a search in the forum. There's plenty of threads discussing the installation of SPrecovery.
Installation | Sholes
That's a link to the page that details the install. It's not a simple app you install from the market. You need to root your droid too, but I think that step by step guide explains that.

I'm not sure if the DroidHelper app installs the latest version of SPRecovery. Best way is to just install it from the Sholes website. Little challenging, but I'm sure you can figure it out.
