I have bamf forever 1.5 on my thunderbolt and when I go into CPU settings and setcpu, I can't go any higher than 1ghz, do I need to download a custom kernel? Any help?

I have bamf forever 1.5 on my thunderbolt and when I go into CPU settings and setcpu, I can't go any higher than 1ghz, do I need to download a custom kernel? Any help?

I would say yes. Most stock kernels wont let you go any higher than your phone's specified settings. A custom or modded kernel can sometimes allow you to double your processor's speed.
A good example would be the OG Droid. If I remember right, the stock settings on it is 600MHz, but with a chevyno1 1.25GHz kernel it can be set to a little over double its intended speed.
There are risks when overclocking your CPU, it could cause permanent damage to your phone. I don't suggest overclocking too much unless you know what you're doing or you know FOR A FACT that your processor can handle it.
