Problem flashing clockworkmod recovery through ROM Manager
Hi I have a Motorola Miletsone 1 (GSM DROID) and I recently upgraded to the official froyo. I installed ROM manager to upgrade to gingerbread, but it wont flash clockworkmod recovery, it only downloads the update. I've tried backing up my current rom and it only goes to motorola recovery. Im not sure what to do. Please help...
My phone was rooted through the Universal Androot app and I'm using ROM manager v.4.2.0.2 with the latest update being shown as 2.5.0.7 (if this helps in any way)

The Milestone is identical to the Droid X AFAIK, so you need the Droid X Bootstrapper, it's on the market.
once installed reboot, hold down volume button during boot and you should get a recovery console with a GREEN font, install the update.zip and reboot and all the Clockwork Mod stuff should work.
See my post in Droid Hacks where I just went through this exact issue.

Thanks for the help but the droid x is different to the milestone. The milestone is an unlocked original droid with slide out keyboard. As far as I know any droid x specific apps wont work.

Could the reason behind the recovery not flashing but only downloading be due to the milestones locked bootloader? Or because I did not use a traditional rooting method?

I have been having the same problem
I download the ROM (CM 6.1.2) then try to boot into recovery to install it. However, my phone reboots and I just get the screen with the exclamation point and NOTHING happens.
After a few minutes I press the camera button and volume up buttons to bring up the recovery menu, but I get the stock menu with blue text.
My phone is the original droid.

That means you don't have a custom recovery flashed properly. Does ROM Manager say otherwise?
