    ROM comparisons

    Hello developers and masters...

Has anyone ever put together a comparison list of all the different custom ROMs? If so, could someone send me a link or tell me where to find it.

What I mean is: A list of each ROM, and some of its points of differential, for example ...is it built on Froyo or GB, uses a custom launcher, Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher, is supported, etc...

This would be incredibly handy in determining which ROMs would be best for a newbie to try..would save having to flash them individually to test out...all that flashing makes me nervous

    Mucho thanks

I don't think anyones ever put together a chart like that but if you write down some of the main points you would want i'm sure i could find you a rom suitable or atleast recommend a few

As for rom flashing making you nervous if you do a nandroid backup before you flash anything then you have nothing to worry about

I found this on another Droid forum that helped me quite a bit, some of the ROMS are not listed on this forums though so *shrug*.

From reading here and other android forums, my conclusion is it depends on your DrOID. One person will tell you ROM x is the absolute best thing ever created and the very next post will say ROM x turned my phone into a brick.
My suggestion is try them. It is going to take some time but once you get used to the flashing process (don't be scared...) it's not bad at all.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the responses gang!

Thinking about starting something myself...let you know how it goes.

True enough, everybody has their own experiences and each phone seems to react differently, I was looking more for "specs" rather than reviews...this one is based on 2.2 froyo, this one on 2.3 gingerbread. This one uses ADW Launcher, this one Launcher Pro, etc etc. You don't always get that info up front and I would find it helpful, since like most, I have preferences.

To gflam, thanks...I understand what you're saying...but I've had three different nandroid backups go bad and be unusable, all for different reasons. each time I either had to start from scratch or restore a MUCH older backup...losing important data. Needless to say, my trust in that process stands at "hopefully optimistic it will work"

Thanks again. This forum is SO MUCH better than others.

I am now considering a ROM after rooting my phone earlier today. The most important considerations, in order of importance:

1.) Move all apps (except protected/system apps) to SD
2.) Possible performance enhancing tools (overclocking)
3.) Tethering (already have EasyTether from pre-root)
4.) Glamour (fancy styles and such)

Number 1 is my primary consideration. Any recommendations?

I'll add Sourcery to the list. FRG83G 2.2.2 with built in theme changer, kernel changer for over/under clocking, and a built in bootanimation changer.

Fast, stable and perfect if you are looking for a stable daily driver.
