Kernel question
So I have installed the Charity Rom and I see it uses ChevyNo1's 1100Mhz Ultra Low Voltage Kernel. It runs great on my Droid but my question is this.
Is there any need for SetCPU? Is a kernel like this set to overclock and underclock by itself? Governor set up?

Correction. It uses chevy's 1100 interactive low voltage kernel.
So it's looking like setcpu isn't even needed?
-
Only if you want to use profiles.

Thanks for the reply!
I had mine set to 900 max and on demand. Then I noticed his kernel was set for 1100 interactive.
I changed it in SetCPU to 800 interactive and now I'm debating on reflashing since it's overclocked anyway and leaving out SetCPU.

I'm currently using that Charity Smoked Glass ROM. I would reflash that and not reinstall SetCPU

Why not just uninstall setcpu?

Fair enough. I just wasn't sure if uninstalling it would release the kernel to default.

I'm not sure I understand. You won't have the profiles or any settings placed within setcpu upon your kernel but you will still have the same kernel.

sorry. i didnt mean to confuse anyone, i hadn't had my coffee yet.
post coffee post...
I had just learned last night that the chevy kernels are clocked at certain speeds automatically. Coming from an Eris, this was new to me. I had installed setCPU and didn't use profiles, merely set it to ondemand (which i have changed to interactive) and 800 max and left the 250 min.
This morning I see a few people saying setCPU can lower battery life and it might be ideal to let the kernel do it's thing alone. So, my thinking was reflash to see what happens if i don't use setCPU, but on the other hand, i'm really only using it to limit the speeds to 800 for the sake of battery life.
much better post - thank you coffee.
