Can't run ANY ROM!

There is def something messed up with your recovery, either that or with the process you're using. I've never heard of a properly rooted Droid not being able to flash anything. Your best bet would be to flash the stock, unrooted sbf file for 2.2.1 and reroot.

Maybe a stupid question but you do have a Verizon droid1 and not an A853 milestone right? These roms and kernels will only run on Verizon droids and A854 milestones

I can't boot into recovery.

That link is to a 600mhz kernel not a ROM. To boot into recovery from a bootloop pull the battery and then hold the x key and the power button. It should then boot straight into whichever recovery you have installed. If you have a nandroid backup of your previous ROM, flash that, if not, your probably going to have to flash the sbf and go back to unrooted stock 2.2.1 and start over.

The Droid is essentially unbrickable. You'll have to boot into recovery, mount USB storage and use RSD lite to flash the sbf file from a PC. There is a very detailed guide as to how to do this somewhere on the forums.

Thanks I found what you were talking about. This will work. Is there a way to undo the root that I did do and redo it properly?

That's exactly what I'm saying. Unroot with the sbf, reroot, once you're rooted with the stock 2.2.1 rom then install a custom recovery, I highly suggest rzrecovery. Once you've got that down you should be able to flash any rom or kernal you want.

I personally have no idea what the current root process is since I've been rooted for over a year but I know there are simple, one-click root solutions available now-a-days. However, just because you are rooted doesn't mean you have a custom recovery necessary to flash custom roms. Follow the tutorials and you'll be fine. Your Droid is not bricked it just needs some serious tlc.
