Looking for a point in the right direction with ROMS

I've been searching and searching and all I can find is old posts, and I'm afraid that I may get outdated information. (One of the threads I read was replaced with the message "***NOT RELEVANT***")

Here's the situation:
Phone: HTC Droid Incredible
FW: Android 2.2 Stock
I successfully rooted it today, no issues, and made a backup in Titan Recovery and a nandroid backup. I'm ready to try out UD, and have the Update.zip

I've heard things about wiping the cache, etc., and want to make sure everything goes smoothly. Can anyone point me in the right direction of an established, accurate guide? Or, better yet, just recommend my course of action? (I've heard ROM Manager is outdated, replaced with something like "BD ROM")

Are you using Clockwork recovery? This is mainly the Droid 1 section I believe.
