Problem connecting Samsung Galaxy S with Darky's ROM

Hi there

First experience of flashing a ROM. Always a bit concerned about doing it because of the possible issues but the terrible lag on my Galaxy S GT-i9000 eventually prompted me.

Downloaded and installed Darky's v7.0 JPY Gingerbread edition and WOW - Now I have a lightening fast phone.

The only problem is I can't use it as a phone or to text! Although I can access wifi easily for some reason it won't connect to my carrier (Telecom New Zealand)... and even though I did a backup of the earlier system using ROM Manager, for some reason that won't restore (Get's hung up on boot screen). So I', back to Darky's but with no connection.

Phone shows an IMEI number and has IMEI SV as 01
Mobile network type : GPRS
Phone Number: Unknown
Network: Unknown

I have tried to set up using Mobile Network Settings but a search of networks doesn't even show TelecomNZ (even tho at boot it shows up with (No service) TelecomNZ in status and then reverts to "emergency calls only")

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I thought that rom was on xda, why are you posting on droidforums?

Not sure if this is works in New Zealand but try *228 and reset roaming.
