if it matters I got it to work. My phone is rebooting right now.
What I did was was I made a folder in the backup folder. I extracted the contents of the file into this folder using Astro. I deleted the actual file after the extraction so that all that was left in the folder was the contents of the rom.

@es0teric, Try dredhead's solution. And yeah, I've been reading all the GingerBread threads since, ah, around 3am this morning lol. I had to throw that Eris scenario in just in case. I believe it's just a problem with a nested folder or something similar.
Ok so I can't really download anything off the market in this build. Will edit when I can figure out what else does and doesn't work.
Edit#1: noticed that this build has the droid eye boot animation instead of just the word android on there. Video camera froze my phone when I tried to record so I had to do a battery pull. Music works fine. Thats pretty much all I can do since I cant reinstall apps.
That's messed up bro. That's one thing I WAS able to do without any issues. After about a minute after opening the market up, it closed on me so I thought I wasn't going to work. I opened it back up and realized that it closed down so that the market could update to the new version. Given that this was a Nandroid, I wonder what the variables are that are affecting the market from user to user. Theoretically if the market worked for me immediately after starting Gingerbread the first time then it should also work for someone else under the same circumstance.
Ok i dont know why this works but i was using droid forum app and clicked on a link within a post and then browser started working. I manually typed a few more addresses in and loaded with no problems. I then tried to go to google and got force close again but i could still load other pages. Dont know what this means but hopd it helps. You guys are awesome!

Yep, there was a folder inside of the folder. I dunno how I did not notice it before... Still waiting for it to copy and this laptop is older and a little slow. It has gotten NO rest in the past 24 hours.
Ok so I just wiped data and cache 3x to see if that would change anything and the first thing that I noticed is that in my status bar it doesn't show 3G it just shows G.
Edit: I can now install apps again. GB is just begging me to stay. If only GB was really animated like the GBMan from Shrek.
