    can't install from market. I'm running MIUI 0.12.3.2

    Gmail update

    I got it to work though I am not sure exactly why it worked... but this is what I did...


    I went to root explorer and deleted Gmail.apk under system/apps

    Then tried to update and install the gmail app from the market but it kept saying installation failed... so I searched for a gmail.apk online and cldnt find out...

    I decided I needed to flash the MUI 0.12.3.2 rom without wiping or anything and it wld install it back... but it didnt

    So I then went to the market and tried installing the new gmail... and it WORKED

    I recommend NOT deleting the gmail.apk from the system/apps, but cutting it and moving it to a backup folder (incase it doesnt work) and then restarting the phone, and go to the market and try to install the gmail app update and it shld prbly work by doing that... if not follow the same steps I did (with the exception of cutting and moving the gmail.apk NOT deleting it) and hopefully it will work for you guys!!

    Using Root Explorer remove or move Gmail from the system apps folder. Reboot phone and then install from market.

    This issue is cause by miui blocking removal of system apps when the installer can't remove gmail.apk it fails

    Running miui 12.3.0 same issue. Nothing has worked. An older thread

    suggests some terminal commands, but I get an "sysrw: not found". Any Suggestions?

    This is the solution - after uninstalling and rebooting the system of your device will no longer recognize the application as "being installed" and will allow the new install from the Market -
