Not what you mean by media programs, below is a list anyway
    Itunes
    Nero
    CS3 & 4
    RSDLite
    AVS Media
    Quicktime
    Audacity
    Microsof silverlight

    Does this help?
Yeah that helps that's exactly what I was looking for. Is nero the sync program or something else. I know with the motorola media sync software it auto mounts phones and syncs to random places on the sdcard. I believe that software is developed by nero. You could try uninstalling nero, rebooting pc. Reinstalling moto drivers, formatting sdcard. Two questions too,

    Also what's Audacity?

    Are you using?
    - Motorola Media Sync
    - Doubletwist
    - Winamp
    - Itunes Agent

audacity is a ringtone maker. I know I don't have Doubletwist, Winamp or itunes agent. Motorola Media Sync is not (just drivers intall) listed in add or remove programs.

Update I tried to put the card back in the phone and is forceclosed launcher, black screened. I pulled battery and removed card. Phone is working again without card.

Okay, are there any apps on your phone? Besides the ones included in the rom?

Okay, do these things in this order

Disclaimer 1: Do not stray from my instructions unless you know a million precent what you're doing

    - Uninstall usb drivers from pc and reboot your computer
    - Re-download and install the correct drivers and reboot you pc again
    - Format your normal sdcard (the one you use on a daily basis, 16gb I'm assuming)
    - Re-download the rom you're using (odexed FRG83D or deodexed FRG83D)
    - Drop rom onto the root of your sdcard (not in sub-folders)
    - Go into Clockwork recovery (power off phone, while it's off press the x button and hold and then hold the power button until it boots, once the screen turns on let go of the power button but hold on to the x until it's in clockwork recovery)

Disclaimer 2: These steps wipe your phone, it will not boot once you do this. Make sure you have a working rom update.zip on your sdcard when you do this. To be safe make a nandroid backup before you do it too.

    - Using the volume rocker go down to "- partitions menu" and hit the camera button to enter
    - Scroll to "- format boot" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- Yes - Format" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- format system" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- Yes - Format" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- format data" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- Yes - Format" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- format cache" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- Yes - Format" press camera button (enter)
    - Scroll to "- format sd-ext" press camera button (enter) (Disclaimer 3: Be careful not to hit "format sdcard" it will wipe the rom right off the sd and you'll be in trouble)
    - Scroll to "- Yes - Format" press camera button (enter)
    - Hit the power button to go back to main menu
    - Go to "Install zip from sdcard"
    - Go to "choose zip from sdcard"
    - Scroll to the right file and hit enter
    - Reboot phone
    - When it boots, skip the login screen, like this

You should be good to go from here, do not use any apps to restore data onto your phone!!!! - Very important. If you do it will make this all pointless

Can some one explain to me why the Master OTA is so elusive? Like how would we get it? If I flashed my phone back to stock 2.1 with a nandroid backup and let it ride untill I got an update notification... Would that be the frg83d master ota? If not then how are we ever supposed to get it?

Yeah a rooted 2.1 rom is probably going to be the first to recieve it. If you want to do that. I can tell you how to get the file off your phone once it comes.

I know this has been asked a million times in a million places, but when I search I'm finding way too much related info without an actual answer, and it's too late/early to read through it all.

Can someone please give me the short & dirty answer? With this close to stock update (including the new OTA official update) work better with odex or deodex? I get why you would use or not use it, but which is smoother? Which is faster? Is one more buggy & problematic? Does one eat up more of the battery than the other?

I dont really need deodex, but if it makes the system run better, or increases battery life, or even does nothing at all to performance, I might as well go that route. If it has a negative impact, or perhaps mixed results I may not want to go that route... it would all depend which is better at what.

    Thanks!

Try both & then you will know which one runs best on your phone. Personally I think metiCkMod FRG83D is the smoothest, also fast w/ good batt. Life on my Droid.
