Have both sets of the Samsung wallpapers installed and working on my D1. I was a tad disappointed the dandelion one doesn't "fit". There is a black box at the very bottom of the screen in portrait and the far right of the screen in landscape I find annoying.

Ya, it dawned on me about it was just a file. I had just woken up and was still 'foggy'. It did flash, but thats it. When I try to load it, nothign happens. Just black. Should I have cleared data/cache? Does that clear my data?

No, you should only clear data/cache when updating your rom to a version with a lot of changes or when going to a new rom all together. Are you saying that you get a black screen when trying to apply the wallpaper? It might just be a screen size/resolution issue and it can't scale it or something...
