    Verizon confirms 1 in 1,000 of Droid X devices have defective screens



    Anyone have nightmares recently that the screen on your brand-new Droid X was flickering and banding into oblivion? Then you realize you're not dreaming at all; that you just dropped upwards of $600 on a phone, and after a few hours, you can't even get past the lockscreen. But instead of skirting the issue for a month and then holding a glamorous PowerPoint press conference, Verizon swiftly recognized that they shipped some defective Droid X devices. Furthermore, the Verizon rep did explain that the problem is not widespread at all; only 1 in 1000 devices should have these defective screens. And according to the quote, Motorola has already resolved the issue, and new Droid X shipments should not be delayed:

    Verizon Wireless and Motorola are aware of a very small number of DROID X units that have experienced a flickering or banding display. Motorola has resolved the issue and is continuing to ship the phones. Any consumer who experiences a flickering or banding display should contact a Motorola customer support center or Verizon Wireless
    If you have experienced this issue with your Droid X, make sure you let Verizon Wireless know as soon as possible, so you can get a replacement. And make sure you don't just settle for a free Bumper.

    Wait, Can we get Sanjay Jha to hold a press conference and say it's not Motorola's fault that some screens have issues? He can even compare it the the yellow screened iPhone and make up things about HTC and Samsung.

    Let me see if I go his straight? So you pay for a $600 new device so after a few days or meybe few hours when you reported defective, Versizon send you a refurbished unit?

    That excactly why I dont believe the insurance on phones are worth.

    They actually send you a BRAND NEW unit. It is part of the worry free guarentee thing they have going. They charge you for the new phone to be sent out and once they get the old phone charges go bye bye. Yeah i have to go through this.
