I am wondering about the upgrade as well.
When I log into my verizonwireless account, and i choose my phone (the primary line), I see that my NE2 is due in 12 months. But when I hover over that bubble, a window pops up saying that I am eligible for discounted pricing on a phone on 10/22/10 (which is 4 months prior to my contract end date).
I figure that this means I have the ability to upgrade at the 2 year price if I sign up to extend my contract.
I hadn't heard about the 1-year upgrade eligibility (into a 2-year contract) thing before - not sure if the 4-month to end of contract deal is different?
i just got the 2nd email also and then i called verizon and they told me there is no promotion going on for my line. which i used my line to get the droid last year. i am conufsed now.
An additonal $20 for wifi tethering!? I wonder just how many people are going to pay for it. A data plan at $30 plus an additonal $20, $50 is pretty steep on the rare occassion when you're out you might want to share your singal. Thats more than what lot of home internet providers charge and at least one can hook up one's feed to many devices as one wants. Example, Cabelvision in NY charges $29.99 (when bundled) for home internet service. Verizon, the very company who came up with this ridiculous charge, charges about $32 (when bundled) for its Fios service. This is one of the features that I was looking foward too. I might have been willing to pay an extra $5 for it, but $20, no damn way ! I still plan on getting an X, but I seriously doubt very many people will make use of this feature now. A HEX ON Y0U VERIZON!!
I know I will not be paying for the wifi hotspot. Just not worth it. And it is even worse considering Sprint allows you to do it for free...... If only they have better service at my house I would consider Sprint for the Evo....
