From what I read on other sites, this is mainly to removing custom skins such as Sense & Blur so updates can roll out faster without a 3rd party having to make their skins work.
What if instead of having to buy for example an htc phone for htc sense or motorola for motoblur, you could just go into the market and download the android skin? Would be cool...
^^^^ That's a great idea. The little bit that I played with an Eris, I like the Sense interface.
Well thats nice...
Unfortunately, those of us who are unrooted and on Verizon will likely see this update... oh, in about never o'clock because they'll hold back on it as long as possible while they decide which features to withhold from their users.
Maybe Google can just buy Verizon in their quest to conquer the world.![]()
They're already trying to get Voice to have VOIP.
Seriously the WebOS UI guy + Gingerbread = In need of new pants. If you have never used WebOS it is arguably the most intuitive, smooth and gorgeous UI on a smartphone I have ever seen or used. Hell as nice as Android is whether it be vanilla, Sense UI or MotoBlur it really doesn't come close. Only good things can happen with this guy leading the way.

It's OK for your Droid to be different. Just be supportive and reassuring and it will do just fine. It's when you or other people point at it or mock it for being different is when its' feelings get hurt. Just show it unconditional love regardless of its' differences and it will in turn reciprocate that love and loyalty.
