Full retail price for the droid is 599.99. At a 7% tax (+/- a few for whatever your tax is) will bring you to right almost at $642.00. Depending upon if you wanted any of the accessories for it, i'm quite sure it will take you over, but if not then you are good to go.
    Resistance is futile.

My Tour is going up on Ebay tomorrow. They are bringing about 300 dollars. I will add the other cause I just upgraded to buy the Tour. So full retail for me.

Alright, now I am getting very irritated with Verizon. I called my local store and they said they have no pricing info for the Droid for Friday. Could not give me any info on rebates and NE2 info.

Needless to say, this is starting to wear thin with me and I am starting to have second thoughts about Verizon. I LOVE the Droid and want it badly, but if they don't get it together I may just skip it. Sorry to rant, but I am hitting nothing but roadblocks...Same goes for BB. No one seems to know ANYTHING.

I had the same discussion at my VZ store, and the rep said that they aren't told or allowed to disclose the price because a stated price gets changed at the last minute before launch. Not wanting to get into a hassle about changing the price, they don't officially announce it until go time. Even a launch date can change, although that seems to be pretty concrete. Maybe they'll drop the price!

From press release: "DROID by Motorola will be available in the United States exclusively at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online on Friday, Nov. 6, for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate. Customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted." This says that the 2 year contract price will be $199.99 AFTER the $100 mail in rebate. So, price to walk out of store with new 2 year contract will be $199.99. How is anyone getting to $99.00?? I'm usually not dense, but this isn't working for me!

Well really the price out the door at VZW stores will be 299.99, they are deducting the 100 debit card they are giving you after you are doing. So 299.99 minus the 100 debit card you get the 199.99 that they are touting. The New Every 2 program should bring you another 100 dollar credit towards your upgrade purchase with a new signed 2 year contract. So if you buy it off the internet i think it the only way you will really get away with getting it for 99.99. Seeing as the online store will be giving the 100 debit card as an instant rebate instead of the card. So 299.99 minus the 100 instant rebate for the debit card, and then minus the 100 (+/-) new every 2 program discount you make your way down to 99.99.
    Resistance is futile.

I would love to qualify for the NE2 thing, but as a potential newbie to Verizon I was told I would not qualify.

Yeah you have to have a contract with them for 20 months to qualify for the NE2 program.
